Tanuki Quest. Design and Layout
Task: to create landing pages for the game
Ru
Creating characters
First, we found references for the main characters. The raccoons had to combine the cuteness of animals and human details: emotions, facial expressions, elements of samurai culture, clothing.
What’s the Quest?
An email game similar to a graphic novel. A user chooses a character, and then finds the options for the development of the story. The ending of the game depends on the player’s choice.
Creating characters
After that, we started sketching on paper, and then drew characters in more detail in vector.
Generating illustrations
There was a lot of game landing pages, but not much time. Therefore, in order not to lose in detail and variety, we began to prepare images using the DALL-E neural network. But the first versions did not turn out very well.
Generating illustrations
We started going deeper into the use of neural networks until we achieved the desired result.
Design of the landing pages
The game implied some plot branches depending on the player’s answers. Each answer had its own landing page. As a result, we had to make 15 thematic pages plus the main one. But first, as always, references.
The main landing page
Recognizable combination of colors and the use of main characters form the samurai theme. The block shapes and the style of the headings make it look more dynamic.
The main landing page
Look at DALL-E generated illustrations on final versions of landing pages.
Adaptive
The project like this needs mobile adaptation, because the quest is conducted in email format. All landing pages look great on all devices.
Design of the emails
The emails support the style of the landing page. It was important not to overload the emails with elements, but to make them visually rich. This is how it turned out.
So what kind of raccoon are you: a cutie or an evil genius?
